Social Media measures

Every social media report should differ per medium.  Social media platforms have their different audience’s and uses.  For this blog post however, I’ll be talking in general regarding the basics of twitter, face book, Instagram, LinkedIn and vine.

I think measurement regarding these platforms should come down to growth first.  You want to make sure you are growing your following through successful posts and interactions overall in your brand.  This can be tracked over time with metrics.

On that note, the next measure that should be measured is overall engagement with your audience.  In order to increase a following successfully, engagement is paramount in how your brand is seen.  You cannot have any successful campaigns or reviews of your brand if there is no successful interactions.  If customers aren’t heard they leave to find another more responsive brand who will answer their questions.  Building off of previous posts, the most successful brands in my opinion are constantly engaging their audience on social media.  Customer service surveys would help in gauging how your audience is feeling.  Anything negative that can be shared would not be great for a brand’s reputation.

Another social media metric that should be tracked is that of reach.  Using metrics within social media platforms, reach tells you how your message/mission is being transmitted geographically.  I think this is important because you can influence locally, and nationally, if desired.  You can literally track who is reading your tweets and from where.  I think this is extremely valuable in building a brand.
